The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research, in conjunction with a local managed care organization, offers an innovative fellowship in health outcomes research.

The fellowship is a 2 year program for individuals who want to develop skills as an independent researcher in health outcomes and health services research. The fellow will collaborate with health care professionals and operations personnel to evaluate and improve comprehensive pharmacy care and its impact. The fellow will design and conduct outcomes (clinical, economic, and patient-reported outcomes of drug therapy) research for selected patient populations in various health care settings.

The goal of the fellowship program is to facilitate career opportunities in managed care, health provider organizations, health systems, governing agencies, consulting, academia, or the pharmaceutical industry.

Learning Experiences:

The fellow will be part of the Residency and Fellowship Program here at the University of Maryland, and will be able to participate in Pharmacotherapy Rounds, the Professional Development Seminar Series, teaching activities, and Journal Club, and attend and present their research at local and national conferences. The fellow has the option to sign up for select courses, or to complete graduate studies towards a Masters in Pharmaceutical Health Services Research.

Fellows who are accepted to this program will be required to come to Baltimore in advance of the July 1st start date for campus orientation; these orientation dates are not known until mid-Spring. These sessions are typically offered on select Mondays in May and June.
