Helio Monteiro is a senior health program specialist with The PATIENTS Program at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP).
About Helio:
Helio Monteiro earned his bachelor's degree in public health with a concentration in Community, Health Equity, and Administration from Roger Williams University in 2019. Upon graduating, Helio worked in the non-profit world, coordinating health education initiatives throughout the state of Rhode Island. He then worked for the City of Hartford 's Health Department in their Public Health Emergency Preparedness team, as well as working as an analyst for their opioid project.
Helio is passionate about health equity, and making sure that communities can benefit from a holistic health perspective that includes their social, economic, and environmental health. He joined the PATIENTS Program because of their work in centering community voices, and hopes to contribute to equipping marginalized voices with the platform to advocate for their health in his new role as Senior Health Program Specialist.
