About Oacia:
Oacia Fair is a senior research data analyst with a deep commitment to improving equitable health care through qualitative research and patient-centered approaches.
She earned her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University (2017) and a Master of Science in Natural Resource Sciences from McGill University (2021). Oacia’s international research experience spans Nicaragua, Tanzania, and Saint Kitts and Nevis, where she studied food and nutrition security and contributed to policy recommendations aimed at strengthening local food systems. This work in community-based participatory research sparked her passion for health care equity, particularly through understanding patient perspectives to inform improvements in health care.
In her professional career, Oacia has worked in Alberta, Canada, where she evaluated provincial mental health programs using mixed methods and collaborated with primary care networks to assess the effectiveness of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). She also led a patient engagement network to increase awareness and understanding of health questionnaires, empowering patients to play a more active role in their health care decisions.
Oacia is excited to contribute to the PATIENTS Program, where she continues her mission to enhance access to equitable health care by listening to and learning from patients' voices. Through her work, she strives to address disparities in health care access and outcomes, by identifying practical, evidence-based solutions that make a lasting impact on health care systems and delivery.
