Rachyl Fornaro is a fourth-year student pharmacist at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
About Ms. Fornaro:
A fourth-year student pharmacist at the School of Pharmacy, Ms. Fornaro is also a Geriatric and Palliative Care Pathway candidate who is currently completing her capstone project under the mentorship of Drs. Nicole Brandt and Kimberly Claeys. She has been passionate about the field of infectious diseases and caring for older adults since her prerequisite courses at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). These passions have pushed her to become involved in student organizations and pursue research in these areas. After graduating, she hopes to complete a PGY-1, then a PGY-2 pharmacy practice residency in geriatrics or infectious diseases. Ultimately, she plans to pursue a career in clinical pharmacy at a large community teaching hospital or academic institution.
Ms. Fornaro is the immediate past vice president of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) student chapter at the School of Pharmacy, and was the treasurer the year prior. She is a current member of the MD-ASCP Community Outreach Committee, which combines her loves for service and patient education. In addition to her involvement with ASCP, she was the immediate past treasurer of the Rho Chi Society Omicron Chapter and was inducted into Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society this past year.
